5 Tips For Potty-Training A Toddler
Toddler Potty-training is an important milestone for bother
parents and children. It can be a stressful time for both parties, but it doesn’t
have to be. Read on to learn about the many ways you can prepare your child for
this big task.👇
1. Identify their readiness for the big task:
It’s not always easy to know if your child is ready to start potty-training, but there are some signs that can help you figure out if they’re ready or not. If they’re able to walk and talk well, it’s likely that they are ready.
They should also be able to tell when their diaper needs changing and
want to use the potty in order for this method of training to work well. They should be able to understand simple words, and start to be able to help undress and pull up their pants on their own.
2. Create a plan:
Once you’ve determined if you child is ready, you’ll
need a plan of action in place before beginning the process of potty training
them. In order for this plan of action to work you need to set up some ground
rules. How will you potty-train them? When will you be able to start this process?
How soon do you wish to accomplish getting them trained?
3. Provide a fun and playful environment to encourage success:
Toddler potty training can be a long and frustrating
process for both parents and the child.👪 Parents need to understand that
toddlers are not able to control their bladder or bowels on their own. They
need encouragement from parents to help them succeed.
Parents should be patient with their toddlers as they do this journey together. Some children are potty-trained in 3 days, some take several months. If it takes a long time, and you are starting to get overly frustrated that this process is not going how you want, revisit paragraph 1 on “Identify their readiness for the big task”.
4. Plan ahead so you’re not caught off guard when it happens:
The transition to potty training is a big one and it can be difficult to know how to prepare. The most important thing is to be aware of the signs that your child is ready and plan ahead so you’re not caught off guard when it does happen.
Take your child on a shopping trip, buy treats, mini toys, special potty underwear, anything to make the child think this will be the best thing ever. Planning ahead for these things will smooth out the bumps that may come along.
If you are not prepared and you child has an accident,
it can lead to a lot of frustration for both of you. Its much better to have an
idea as to when your child will be ready, so you can take steps in advance to
make the transition easier.
5. Stay strong and be patient! You’ll get there in no time!
The toddler potty training process can be frustrating, as parents we all know. It can be difficult and tiring at the same time. If you attempt to do the 3 day potty training method then you know how frustrating it can be to sit at home, on your floor all day, keeping your child entertained and close to the pot.
Its especially important to stay positive and patient.
If you are not, this whole process will take 10x longer, and potentially have a
child who is resistant to wanting to potty-train at all.
